FIRST STEPS 

Once you have decided to join us take the time to complete the application form.

Give a little time to its completion and use the guidance below to help you think about where and when a collection or collections might be suitable.

 The first thing you will need to do is to select the locations for your collections. Good ideas for this would be a railway station, an out of town supermarket or your local high street. If you have enough volunteers you might consider doing all the locations on the same day. Also bear in mind weather conditions, a shopping centre or supermarket might be a better choice during the winter months. We also have a two weeks exemption certificate in June each year that allows us to collect across the country House to House. You can take envelopes and post through doors and go back in few days to collect or you can go around the doors collecting.

2. Day or time of collection.

Think which day would be best. Does your town have a local weekly market, this would attract more people into the town and get a greater footfall for your collection. At the railway station find out the peak times for commuters in the morning and evening. Also consider costs of car parking for the volunteers. Ensure the dates you choose fit in with your volunteers!!

3. Permits.

This is where we start to take the pain away ! Once we have the location and dates we start working on applying for and completing the application forms most requests for permits need applying for  9 - 12 months before your collection. However, do not let this put you off asking for a date in near future as sometimes this is negotiable and subject to availability. Once you are with us we can automatically reapply for permits for the following year

Now you have considered these point and with this information in hand  you can now go ahead and complete your Application Form with a cheque for £50.00 or you  can ring to give credit card details or get our BACS information.
