"Beastly" encounter for Cambridge children
Children from Cambridge Joint Playschemes, which provides holiday playschemes for youngsters with profound to moderate learning disabilities in the Cambridge area had a "beastly" encounter on 23rd December.
They met not only the Beast but Beauty as well before watching the Beauty & the Beast Disney Show at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.
The theatre trip was possible thanks to a grant from the Special Appeal Fund of Alexandra Rose Charities, a national organisation that supports small and local people caring charities with grants for projects such as this as well as helping partner charities to raise funds for themselves. A second group of children from Cambridge Joint Playschemes went to see Jack & the Beanstalk at the Art’s Theatre, also paid for by the grant.
Kathleen Powell of Cambridge Joint Playschemes says "These trips help to make the children's Christmas really special, all thanks to Alexandra Rose Charities"
Margaret Stock, National Director for Alexandra Rose Charities says "I am thrilled the children had such fun and were also able to meet Beauty & the Beast. We support around 300 small charities each year and would be delighted to hear from others who would like our help."
