Farnham finds the funds for Alexandra Rose Charities
A sell-out charity bowling evening for Alexandra Rose Charities has raised £851.32 in what South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt described as a demonstration of generosity from people in the town and surrounding area.
Mr Hunt, who is Shadow Culture Secretary and a long-time supporter of the charity based in Farnham, said: “Despite the present problems in the economy when everyone is being cautious about what they spend, local people have demonstrated their generosity in supporting a charity which last year raised a total of more than £220,000 to support people in need throughout the country.” Mr Hunt presented the cheque to the charity at the Bush Hotel, Farnham, on Saturday 7 March.
The bowling evening, held in Guildford on 1 March, was organised by Ivona Balazova who moved from Slovakia five years ago and recently gained her diploma in event management and public relations from King’s College, London. She is now looking for further experience in event management to develop her career in this country. She speaks English, Slovak, Czech and Polish and is also learning Italian and Spanish.
Alexandra Rose Charities national director Margaret Stock said: “As a relatively small charity we rely so much on the help of our many volunteers and are always keen to attract more. Ivona’s expertise and enthusiasm ensured that the Guildford evening was a complete sell-out. We are grateful to Jeremy Hunt for continuing to support our activities so enthusiastically and effectively.”
