Kids Can Achieve Outing

Thanks to a grant from ARC to Kids Can Achieve, they were able to take sixty children to Whipsnade Zoo during the Easter holidays. The outing was part of their Play Scheme which offers activities to children with additional needs during the school holidays. They had originally planned to offer twenty places on the outing to children from their under-12s scheme, however the trip was so popular that they ended up taking sixty children and young people from their under 12-s play scheme and youth holiday scheme ! The grant from the Special Appeal Fund was used to cover the entrance fees and a portion of the coach hire cost. The day was a big success and the weather was kind to them and so were the animals; the children got to see baby elephants bathing, a penguin show and rhinos wallowing in the mud. The children also really enjoyed the steam train and the opportunity to be out in the fresh air.
