Nights out with a twist see Charities benefit
As we all begin to tire of the ongoing economic gloom, it seems that those still seeking a fun night out with friends (but with half an eye on the purse strings) are turning to charitable social events as a way of enjoying a night out on the town - with the twist that they are supporting a worthwhile cause at the same time.
“Finding a reason to dress up and enjoy a glamorous night out, without feeling guilty for spending our hard earned pennies, is just the tonic people are looking for right now,” said Margaret Stock, national director of Alexandra Rose Charities. “We have seen a marked increase in the number of enquiries that we’ve had about this year’s Rose Opera Extravaganza from smaller groups of friends looking for an alternative night out which is just fabulous.
As a national charity we are extremely lucky to be able to include specialist events in our social calendar and people appear to appreciate the opportunity to combine a night out with friends and family whilst supporting a charitable event.”
Baroness Osten-Sacken is a keen supporter of the charity and has booked places for a family get-together. “I have three very professional sons who lead very busy lives so I organise what is known as ‘mother’s evening’ and it is almost obligatory for them to attend, with their partners. I’m always asked what the next one will be and the Rose Opera Extravaganza presented me with the perfect opportunity to do something a little different that I know everyone will enjoy.”
The Rose Opera Extravaganza takes place on May 14th 2009 at the renowned Drapers’ Hall in London. Starting with a champagne reception, the evening also includes an indulgent three-course dinner with free flowing wine, interspersed with operatic interludes performed by the London Festival Opera.
Tickets for this black tie event are just £125 per person, with tables of 10 also available for larger groups.
