Recognition Brought to Life
The Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children (QAF) Donor Recognition Wall exemplifies all that which graces the natural surroundings of the Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health. By bringing the great outdoors inside, we honour our donors with an interactive landscape mural exhibiting a blend of scenery, colours, texture and tactile finishes. By reflecting the local environment in the mural, we highlight the outstanding beauty of our geographical area.
Imagination breathes life into the wall's nature scene, painted by local artist Olga Lang. It incorporates a foreground of a split cedar fence, sea-to-sky background and centre feature of the Alexandra Rose; a pink rose originally named after Queen Alexandra in 1912. Raising money for charities in the U.K., the ‘Alexandra Rose Day' event began in London with the sale of wild roses and is celebrated each year in the U.K. as an enduring symbol of hope for charity. Our QAF donor names are prominently displayed on the Alexandra Rose mural. On May 6th we took the opportunity to highlight the purpose of our perpetual wall with an unveiling ceremony attended by our dedicated donors. It is with gratitude that we identify and bring recognition to our heartfelt contributors to the Queen Alexandra Foundation. We appreciate your generosity and human compassion in support of children.
Visitors can rest comfortably to view the mural and children of all ages are invited to participate in our QAF Mural Quiz. We extend gratitude to the following individuals who contributed to bringing our Donor Recognition Wall to life!
Thank you to: Ian Ackroyd, Doug Ashmore, Joy Spencer-Barry, Denise Bull, Lois George, Mahshed Hooshmand, Jennifer Jasechko, Wayne Lackner, Olga Lang and Margaret Stock National Director of Alexandra Rose Charities, England.
