The Rose Raffle Tea Party at Farnham Castle
On Thursday 29 october The Lady Grade hosted a tea party at Farnham Castle. Siobhan Hewlett, currently appearing with Charles Dance in the ITV2 series Trinity, and the charity's Rose Face was the co-host.
The afternoon was a great success with guests from a number of Alexandra Roses's local partner charities and those they support. All were treated to a splendid array of cakes and sandwiches which were generously sponsored by Phyllida Dare and Sophia Tayler.
During the tea, guests were entertained brilliantly by the talented John Masterton on the piano and the fabulous Claire Phoenix Band. Both are locally based and performed for free.
The raffle draw was made by The Lady Grade and Siobhan Hewlett with a top prize of £2000 going to Mrs Brenda Willmott of Bristol who said "the timing is brilliant as my dentist has told me that I need to spend it on my teeth !". The second prize of £1000 goes to Mrs Karen Purkiss of Southampton who is a huge fan of Southampton Football Club so the money will go towards a season ticket as well as her daughter's 18th birthday. The third prize of £500 went to Mrs Jeanette Ridler of Dorking who asked that £100 be returned to Supporters of the Disabled at Yateley for their valuable work and it was where she bought her ticket.
Those charities that attended included Surrey Visual Impairment, Enableability, Supporters of the Disabled at Yateley, Windsor & Ascot Driving Group for Disabled, Guildford Hard of Hearing, Help in Bereavement, Andrew Windsor Almshouses, Wokingham & West Berks Mental Health Assoc., XLP Research Trust, Monica Cantwell Trust and Rivertime Boat Trust.
