Alexandra Rose Charities works for small charities, helping them to raise money. We were created Queen Alexandra in 1912 and for nearly 100 years we have been successfully helping some of the most vulnerable groups in Britain by the support we give to the fund raising efforts of small, local charities up and down the country.
Small, local groups are the most hardest pressed area of the voluntary sector. They have no national profile and do not have the finances or manpower to mount significant fund raising initiatives of their own. However, it is often just these charities, run with an intimacy lacking in the big national organisations, that can be so very effective at local level. Sometimes all they seek to raise is a few hundred pounds. In a world where charities must compete, they struggle to be heard. We operate using minimal office resources with a very small committed team. We have a Board of Trustees drawn from many walks of life, all of whom contribute their time as volunteers. Over the last decade we have helped thousands of charities up and down the country to raise funds for themselves providing them with everything they need to do a Collection, obtaining licences, supplying all the equipment and giving advice on everything from the legal aspects to planning the day and engaging volunteers. For some charities it is a life-line and for others, a vital part of their fundraising efforts. Originally our charities would collect on the annual Rose Day and in city centres and with House to House Collections – now it is usual for several collections to take place throughout the year, and now includes stations, supermarkets and even sports grounds.
